About Nancy Creighton

Obviously, I’m deaf. But I was hard of hearing growing up, and my first language is English. I’m lesbian, and my partner, Betty G. Miller, is the person who’s health I am responsible for. Betty’s an accomplished, famous deaf artist– famous in the Deaf World, not the hearing one. Much of her artwork has been about her own oppression, and the oppression she has seen around her growing up as the daughter of deaf parents.

I am also an artist, graduated from University of the Arts (1983) in Philadelphia with a degree in painting. But my work life has shaped my artwork, and I have spent professional time as a writer, editor, graphic designer, web designer, networked computer lab manager and technician, English tutor, data entry and spreadsheet flunky, IRS tax examiner, file clerk, secretary, and some other things I’ve probably forgotten. Designing books and doing the layout for them is one of my favorite professional endeavors. I love it! The other thing I love to do, and what keeps me sane when I’m too much into detail work and going nuts, is expressing some of my many ideas in designs for the products on our Cafepress store– posters, t-shirts, etc.

This blog is an expresion of the writer part of me. Here are some links to the other parts:
